What’s the Difference Between the Microcenter TW801 & TW802?

This is a short article I wrote on January 17th, 2015 before I had my blog up and running:

What’s the Difference Between the Microcenter TW801 & TW802?

Microcenter recently released a new version of their TW801 tablet: the TW802. The TW801 was originally $160 on sale for $140. The price has since dropped to $120 (as of 1/17/15). The TW802 is being sold for $130.
The Microcenter website for both of the products is honestly a complete mess. I took the liberty of going to Microcenter to see just what exactly the difference is. Below is a photograph showing the specs as listed on the back of each box:

801802As you can see, the only major difference is the processor and the USB slot. However, reading online, I found that both processors seem to beĀ identical performance-wise. The big difference is that the 801 has USB 3.0 and the 802 only has USB 2.0. So essentially, you are buying a more expensive unit with a worse USB slot.

Conclusion? Buy the 801. I suspect they will be discontinued soon and the 802 is less expensive to produce. Microcenter is most likely selling them cheaper to get them out of inventory as soon as possible.
